Trip from Kennedy Meadows to Yosemite Valley
Backpacking days: From the summer of 1971 until the time I got married, I did a lot of backpacking in the Serrias that mostly consisted of 100 mile plus trips after Labor Day. The above picture is of me (Michael McChesney, red beard and all) at Bond Pass, which is the northern entry point to Yosemite National Park. We, Kirk Thege and myself, Started at Kennedy Meadows and hiked to Yosemite Valley, about 105 miles. This was September 1974, a year after they removed part of my right lung.
