Juvenile Bald Eagle.
I have always wanted to capture a bald eagle. this was taken northwest of Sebastopol CA in June 2010. There were two juveniles in the nest, that was in a very large Eucalyptus tree, and mom and dad would head out early in the day to hunt. After much squawking, one of the two would slowing inch out on a limb away from the nest where it would sit for maybe half an hour before it would take off and soar for about 15 to 20 minutes. This guy was way up there and so, this image is heavily cropped. Canon 40D, 100-400mm f5.6 L series lens.
